It is now 2020, and Mike Ashley is still the owner of Newcastle United.
The club’s supporters have been against the 56-year-old for years, but still he remains at the club. That is not from a lack of trying to sell up, though, as the rumours of a potential takeover persist. Last year, the Bin Zayed group were said to be interested, and now it is Amanda Staveley’s consortium that is believed to be looking at a deal.

The Shield Gazette is saying that they “remain focused” on completing a takeover, and West Ham – who they were said to be targeting – are not on their radar.
This was shared by the NUFC360 Twitter page, and it is has got the Magpies supporters talking.
Many are urging the reportedly interested buyers to hurry up and complete the deal.
It really does seem to be a drawn-out process, and you must wonder whether the deal will go through at all.
Some supporters appear to have already given up hope.
Many fans, it seems, have seen this all before, and don’t appear to be getting their hopes up that Ashley could be on his way out.
