No 24 hours produces outrageous transfer rumours as consistently as Deadline Day and a right cracker was thrown up this morning by talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams.
Building on a story that hit Mirror Football earlier this week, ‘The Moose’ told listeners earlier today that Chelsea could launch a shock Deadline Day swoop for Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale, who has been in exceptional form for the Seagulls this season.

As quoted by The Daily Star, he said…
“I understand that Chelsea will turn their attention to another goalkeeper. It’s goalkeeper who plays for a team at the top of the Championship. They could go for Brighton keeper David Stockdale. That’s if they miss out on Craig Gordon.”
Since then, there hasn’t been much news in regards to the former Fulham ace or for that matter, Chelsea’s apparent interest in Celtic No.1 Craig Gordon.
And it appears the majority of Chelsea fans will be disappointed with that news, even though Stockdale would only have been brought in as understudy to the supremely talented Thibaut Courtois.
Indeed, we asked Chelsea fans earlier today whether they’d back a deadline day move for the 31-year-old glovesman and according to the results of our exclusive poll, a staggering 90% would!
There’s still a few hours left before the 11pm deadline, but a late Chelsea raid for Stockdale seems incredibly unlikely.
