Nigeria have started positively in the African Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles managed to beat Burundi in a tight game that ended one-nil to the favourites.
Alex Iwobi was part of the starting XI and, while the Arsenal ace did not find the net himself, he still played the whole 90 minutes and helped his team to the first points of the tournament.
As is usually the case on social media, superstars tend to post a motivational message right after big games to show support for their teammates and give the fans an update.
Iwobi just made a short statement on Instagram but one that echoed pretty strongly on the platform and also attracted a lot of attention from teammates and ex-professionals alike.
His teammate, Alexandre Lacazette, was quick to send Iwobi a message of support followed by some emojis to congratulate his friend on a big win and a promising start to the competition.
Ian Wright, the ex-Palace and Arsenal man, is closely following most of Arsenal’s aces and he showed his support for the 23-year-old with a series of emojis.
Iwobi and Nigeria will face Guinea in their next fixture before they close out the group stage with a match against Madagascar on June 30th.
